Amber E. George

Dr. Amber E. George is a newly appointed Full Professor in Arts and Sciences, and brings a wealth of interdisciplinary knowledge to her teaching in philosophy, sociology, and cultural diversity. Her influence extends far beyond the classroom through her extensive engagement in scholarly publishing and academic leadership.

Currently, she serves as the Director of Finance for the Institute for Critical Animal Studies (ICAS) and Editor-in-Chief of both the Journal for Critical Animal Studies (JCAS) and the Animal Liberation Journal. Dr. George is a prolific author and editor, with several books exploring the intersections of critical animal studies, disability studies, eco-ability, and race, gender, and sexuality studies.

Her commitment to academic excellence is further evidenced by her service on the review boards of numerous journals, including Green Theory and Praxis Journal, Transformative Justice Book Series, Academia Green Energy, the International Journal of Developmental Disabilities, Sustainability. Science, Practice, and Policy Journal, Rhetoric, Politics, & Culture, the Canadian Journal of Disability Studies, and TRACE Journal.

She has held previous academic appointments at various institutions, serving as an Associate Professor, Assistant Professor, and Full Professor. Dr. George's teaching experience spans a wide range of courses, including ethics, philosophy, critical thinking, and social justice education.
