Hi, I’m KP Carter, The World's ONLY Readologist™, author of the Lizzie B. Hayes trilogy. I am a TEDx speaker, lifelong educator, author and education consultant. For 35 years, I worked with learners from grades K-12. During the summer, I wrote curriculum and served as an adjunct reading professor at a local community college. But teaching 4th grade was my “sweet spot!” Before retiring from the public school system, I was the Director of Language Arts and Testing K-12 for a school district of 12,000 students. As a girl, I used to rush home after school to “teach” my dolls and toys how to “read.” Teaching was in my blood from the very beginning. Majoring in education, I earned my B.A. degree from Johnson C. Smith University in Charlotte, NC. My deep passion to learn the intricacies of teach reading, led me to pursue my M.Ed. from Kutztown State University in PA. My retirement is full of new projects, author visits at schools and libraries, workshops to support literacy at home and be speaking about children's literacy, I enjoy exercise, all kinds of music and playing my viola. Born in Brooklyn, NY, raised in Newark, NJ, I currently reside in NC. My pride and joy are my two amazing adult sons.
