Mr David Charles Howden

Welcome, I was born in Cambridge and began drawing cartoons and writing stories whilst at school for my friends. Leaving at sixteen, I became an apprentice bookbinder, restoring and binding leather books by hand. A trade that I have now been involved in for many years. My daughter followed my love of art, contributing her drawings as well.

My work consists of The Tooth Bearer trilogy, and a new set of one-off tales, the first being, A Cottingley Christmas.

Aimed at the young and those that still believe in opening a door to a magical world.

Many stories have influenced my writing style, including the Anne of Green Gables books by Lucy Montgomery, the magical tales by Enid Blyton and the fantasy of Sir Terry Pratchett. The famous story of the Cottingley Fairies of 1917 is featured throughout my Tooth Bearer work. A story which has always fascinated me.
