Allison McManus

Allison McManus was born and raised in Western Washington state. A National Board Certified Science educator and former middle school science teacher for 13 years, Allison is the product of two nature-loving parents who instilled in her a deep love and respect for the natural world. From a very young age, she assisted in garden care tasks around the yard when she wasn’t stopping to identify birds or butterflies flying around. Always staying in tune with her love of the natural world, she pursued a degree in Exercise Science at Western Washington University ('00) and a Master’s in Teaching degree at City University of Seattle ('06). Together with her husband and fellow author, Sean McManus, she currently gardens in zone 8b, in Washington state, where she tends to a suburban garden space originally planted by her grandparents. Allison and her husband want to teach beginning gardeners to better their garden care skills through their books, podcasts, blog, videos, and online courses.
