Tony Herbert

Anthony L. Herbert, Sr., affectionately known to all as Tony, is a Community Leader who has a broad range of corporate, political, community and business leadership experience.

A Brooklyn native – born in Ft Greene and raised in Prospect Heights – Tony attended public grammar, middle school, and high school in the Fort Greene and Clinton Hill neighborhoods. His interest in community affairs began during his formative years while being raised in a single-parent household. Tony’s mother, the sole breadwinner and a dedicated school aide for over 30 years in the NYC public school system before passing of Cancer in 1999, instilled in him core family values, a solid work ethic, and the desire to serve others.

In 1983, during Tony’s early teenage years, the onset of gentrification caused Tony and his family to become homeless. They lived as squatters in an abandoned building in Prospect Heights. That experience was the foundation upon which Tony’s commitment to community service was built. Today, Tony stands in the gap to provide a voice for those who can’t speak for themselves.

Tony currently serves as the Community Relations Officer for The Ravenswood Generating Station in addition to President/CEO and Chairman of the Multi-Cultural Restaurant & NightLife Chamber of Commerce, Founder and President of the Advocates Without Borders Network. He was also formerly employed as a Vocational/Educational Specialist for a Mentally Ill Homeless Women’s Shelter in the East New York section of Brooklyn.
