I've practiced criminal defense and police misconduct law for over 40 years in Durham, NC. My articles about the law have appeared in The New York Times and Washington Post. I won an International Impact Book Award (IIBA)(April 2026) for "Queer Justice," an IIBA for "Twenty Angels on Her Roof," and is a Finalist for IIBA Author of the Year - 2026 and first Runner Up, San Francisco Book Festival and Runner Up, New York Book Festival for "FBI Snitches, Blackmail, and Obscene Ethics at the Supreme Court," July 2026 PIHBA winner for "Listening to Chopin While Fighting Nazis" and 2026 author of the year finalist. My articles about my Catholic faith have appeared in Commonweal and other publications. I coached youth hockey for 15 years with Triangle Youth Hockey of North Carolina (TYHNC). I play in my local adult league as well as write about hockey.
