Marcus James Heslop

Marcus James Heslop was born in Newcastle in 1974. He is a secondary school teacher and writer. He is the author of Who's that Guy? The Sometimes 'Knightmare' Life of an Unknown Actor. This, his debut book, explores the life of the much loved 'jobbing' actor, Guy Standeven. Marcus has also written for Best of British magazine, TW magazine and The Dark Side magazine. His articles include a profile of Michael Farnsworth, an actor who left show-business behind and became a Doctor, an in-depth exploration of the actors who made up the back row of the platoon in the sitcom Dad's Army, the Peter Sellers film The Optimists of Nine Elms and a piece on the director and producer Bryan Forbes. Of the latter his wife, actress Nanette Newman, said it was one of the best articles she'd read about her husband. He has also written for the worlds best selling horror magazine The Dark Side. His piece on the film Absolution included an in-depth interview with its star Dai Bradley, talking about the film in detail for the first time. His second book, a biography of the actress Fran Fullenwider is available now, published by Chinbeard Books. He has many claims to fame including meeting Oliver Stone, being thanked in a BFI booklet, and pouring a cup of tea to Declan Donnelly in an episode of Byker Grove!
