Luis Simões da Silva

Luis Simões da Silva graduated in Civil Engineering at the University of Coimbra in 1984, received an MSc in "Structural Steel Design" with Distinction at Imperial College London in 1986 and a PhD in “Structural Mechanics” also at Imperial College London in 1989. He received the title of Docteur Honoris Causa from the University of Liege, Belgium, in 2018. He is Professor of Steel Construction at the Department of Civil Engineering of the University of Coimbra.

His professional interests evolve around Steel Construction, sustainability and Industry 4.0. He has written 20 books on these topics
