Molly Kochan is best known for her candor, dark humor, and her heart-wrenching journey in the hit podcast, Dying for Sex. Molly grew up on the Upper West Side of New York City and always dreamed of being a writer. She moved to Los Angeles, met a man, and got engaged. Molly came back to NYC to complete her MFA in creative writing from The New School. After landing back in Silver Lake, Ca, she got married. Four years into her marriage, she was diagnosed with breast cancer. Molly underwent chemo, radiation, a bilateral mastectomy, and breast reconstruction. She thought she was in the clear. Three years into her hormone therapy, she received the tragic news that the cancer returned and she was diagnosed as metastatic: a terminal diagnosis. Six months after getting the news, Molly admitted that she couldn’t fully self realize in the context of her marriage, so she did something bold. Molly left her marriage and embarked on a sexual journey in hopes of reconnecting with her body.
Molly documented a lot of her adventures in the podcast Dying For Sex. While producing the project, Molly entered the hospital for what she thought would be a routine surgery. Instead, she was confined to a bed for months where she would eventually take her last breath. But not before finishing the life long dream of writing a book. What Molly revealed about herself during her last days, was honest, raw, and healing. Molly died on March 8th, 2019, at the age of 45, in the same bed where she wrote this Memoir.
