Ayanna Murray

Ayanna Murray is a graduate of the University of Oregon with a Bachelor of Arts in Education and a Masters in "Mothering" four children. With over a decade as a homeschool educator, Ayanna loves encouraging children and parents to reach their highest potential.

It was her greatest honor to collaborate with her daughters (Anaya Murray as co-author and Jayda Murray as illustrator) on her first published work, "Little Bear Learns To Share," which comes with a coloring book and school readiness activity workbook.

While educating her children from preschool through high school and developing curriculum, Ayanna saw the immense need for children’s stories that feature children of color and their history. In fact, her picture book, "Keep Moving Forward, Henry!" and its companion, "Keep Moving Forward, Henry! Activity & Coloring Book," are based on the true experience of her father serving as one of the first African American firemen in her hometown.

Ayanna gets ideas for stories from all around her. Her most recent book release, "Fire-Lit Lovely: A Daddy and Daughter Love Story" was inspired by her husband's love for their daughters. She wanted to write this book in honor of one of the most special relationships on earth- between father and daughter. The accompanying "Daddy and Daughter Connect & Bond Activity and Coloring Book" is an additional tool families can use to help foster this beautiful relationship.

As an author, Ayanna hopes to inspire little people and adults to keep learning about the world around them and realize that although we are different, we all have much more in common. She is a true believer that every voice matters and should be heard.

Ayanna understands the value of representation and has made it her mission to add a plethora of multi-ethnic books and products into the marketplace in order to impact how under-represented children see themselves in the world and to influence how they are seen by others.

With this need in mind, Ayanna hopes to address the lack of diversity in literature, create positive narratives and expose children’s curiosity to life experiences and stories beyond their own.
