Michael Lai

Michael Robert Lai was born in New Iberia, Louisiana in 1983 to immigrant parents from Vietnam. Through his parents struggles and experiences, he learned the importance of believing in yourself, hard work, perseverance, community and the power of education.

Today, he is a community college counselor at Chabot College in Hayward, California. Michael specializes in working with first generation, low income college students. He has taught courses on college transition, college success and career development. In his 10+ years of education counseling experience, he has seen first hand what it takes to thrive and make the most out of the college experience.
