Virginia Oakley

Virginia is a mother and wife approaching elderhood who has been writing, drawing, and creating since childhood. She’s always been more comfortable outdoors than in and considers the whole world her home; the plants, animals, and trees her kin; and the rivers and oceans her blood. She has found deep solace in her travels in the mountains and deserts of the American west.

Her recently published memoir includes her story of trauma, self-abuse, depression, bitterness, and withdrawal, which she writes about in a simple, unsophisticated style. She describes how she dabbled in numerous forms of therapy and self-help programs for many years without much success. She talked all around the work but never actually did the work. When she learned to meditate, everything changed. She was able to step beyond all the talking and into the silence at her center, where all truth awaited her. She built a foundation that will endure long after her death.

Now she lives to write and share her evolving wisdom with humility and grace. She has dedicated her life to living modestly, honoring the divine in all things, and celebrating the blessings of Spirit. She has a blog and two more nonfiction books in progress and plans to write an historical novel.
