Richard A. Cross

Richard A. Cross is the embodiment of a person who goes beyond limitations. Richard is an example of what is possible and that one should not limit themselves because of what they do not have or the failures they have experienced. Richard overcame poverty and has proven those who didn't believe that he would amount to anything wrong. Even though Richard failed his classes in high school in Jamaica, through grace, he went to college in Jamaica, became a police officer, and, later he went on to secure a track and field scholarship to the United States. While he was a student, he became the top student-athlete on campus with the highest GPA. Richard is now an author of 13 books. Richard is also a final year doctoral student at Clark Atlanta University. His journey is an inspiration, and he often says when we talk about empowering our black male students, “If you are crazy enough to think you can change the world, you might just do it.” It is Richard's passion for helping black males that led him to the founding of Going Beyond Limitations, an organization that focuses on cultivating positive self-image in Black male students ages 15-21 years old. Richard is disciplined, dedicated, and he is purpose-driven. I do believe that Richard is an inspiration, especially to those who have doubts about what is possible.
