José Gago-Silva has seventeen years of experience as a Professor and researcher in Visual Communication in the School of Applied Arts (ESART) - Castelo Branco Polytechnic Institute (Portugal). Research and coordination practice in commercial projects and educational projects. He is a full member of the Research center in Architecture Design and Urbanism of the Faculty of Architecture, University of Lisbon.
Has Research experience in educational projects with bLearning strategies acquired in teaching practice and research projects, Master's project (two-year Master's degree) - "Online Learning Module for learning of visual continuity - Design, development, and validation."
The Ph.D. project - "iconography musical applied as rhythmic montage score - Teaching module, Design, implementation, and test." The Ph.D. research focused on trans-codification practices. Drawing functioned as a problem-solving strategy, stimulating the reasoning through pictures, to understand what thinking emerges while drawing and how representational skills help students in problem-solving tasks.
As coordinator and researcher, has ten years of experience in the development of interfaces between academia and various institutional and commercial organizations. Has also experience in applying qualitative diagnostic design methodologies as product lever solutions, low-cost strategies for micro-companies, allowing new market positioning approaches at the level of the image. The experience stimulated the present post-doctoral project entitled "Value Co-creation in Digital Design through Visual Exploratory Assessment." Experience in developing learning experience strategies that empower the insertion of students in private and public companies.
