Laura Lentz is a writing teacher, author, and essayist. She has taught themed creative writing workshops for over a decade to artists all over the world in intimate, online groups and on Kauai’s north shore.
Her acclaimed workbook is based on her popular twelve-week writing class - "STORYQuest, the Writer, the Hero, the Journey." Laura guides writers to create stories by exploring stages of storytelling through the Hero's Journey. Laura's book of essays, "Freeing the Turkeys," is the much anticipated collection of essays by Laura Lentz. Each essay has a poetic, musical quality, speaking directly to the soul, awakening a sleeping part of ourselves as we go through life facing physical and emotional challenges, losing people we love and celebrating with those who are beside us now.
Laura’s unique format helps writers engage in a daily writing practice, expand their body of work and fill in the gaps for existing stories and manuscripts. Laura works with professors, poets, authors, plumbers and waitresses, and her unique exercises and format draws out compelling, heart expanding stories.
Laura is also the founder of Literati Academy, a community to support, encourage and assist writers in all creative endeavors. Laura is known for her creatively opening themed curriculum.
Laura serves on the faculty of The Kauai Writers Conference, hosts writing events very 6-weeks online and is an online producer of spoken words shows.
Laura’s commitment to story is based on her belief that exploration of personal stories and sharing those stories might save the world. We write to understand and heal ourselves, then we cast our stories into the world to heal others.
