H. Milo Yoder

Harvey Yoder was born in 1951 in rural Virginia and raised in a traditional Amish family. After years as an Amish Mennonite schoolteacher in several states, he and his wife Karen moved with their five children to Ukraine to serve in mission work. Later, Harvey began a 13-year career as a biographical writer for the Mennonites, traveling to more than 20 countries to record life stories. When the marriage dissolved, Harvey came out to his family, friends and community, and acknowledged his authentic self he had kept hidden since his youth.

In time, his spiritual journey led him beyond the strict traditions of his upbringing to embrace a Christ-centered faith focused on Jesus instead of using the Bible as a rule book. Now living in Florida with his partner Jeff and their Basenji dog Asha, Harvey continues to reflect on the intersections of faith, culture, and personal transformation.
