Zadie Schaffer

Zadie Schaffer is a book author and public speaker. In her frequent presentations to universities, historical societies, schools, libraries, and civic groups, she talks about overlooked women's histories, uncovered in her Notable Women of Portland book. Her goal is to change the way that history is taught in Oregon schools with these forgotten women's stories.

Notable Women of Portland is a bestselling book for The History Press that is widely used in many Portland classrooms. The book includes diverse stories from many walks of life, including: Native American stories, brilliant women writers whose careers were mostly ghost writing for male authors, women who had to argue to be allowed to be doctors and lawyers, women who fought for labor laws and civil rights laws, blue-collar workers in WWII shipyards, and many other inspiring stories.
