Fred Herrin

Fred worked his way through college at a photography studio and drilled with the local Navy reserve unit. With college graduation his required twenty-four month active duty arrived. Expecting shipboard duty he was instead sent to Vietnam. There his predictable and ordinary life changed into the bizarre. His fictional account, built around actual events tells the story of support personnel especially the Navy Construction, the SeaBees. No one is ready for war. In Fred's case it took fifty years before he was ready to write about it. For this author closure included telling the world about Vietnam in 1967.

Any loved one of a Vietnam survivor might learn a tiny bit about their experience through this book; its realism, fear, dirt, noise and confusion come clearly defined in its pages.
