JIM NEMEC was raised in Newmanstown, Pennsylvania, to humble means as the youngest of eight children. He enlisted into the U.S. Army Security Agency at age seventeen and served in Southeast Asia until he was twenty. Because of the PA Veterans Act and GI Bill, Jim was able to afford and then graduate with distinction with a Bachelor’s degree in Administration of Justice from Penn State University in just over three years while working full time.
Over the next forty years he worked in law enforcement and corrections and for the U.S. Postal Service, training, managing, directing, and leading large organizations. While working full time, Jim also completed his Master’s degree in Human Organizational Science at Villanova early in his career.
During more than thirty years with the postal service, Jim began as a mail handler, but ended up working every executive field leadership position, as postmaster, plant manager, district manager and area operations support manager. He was promoted to an officer when named Vice President of Consumer Affairs. He completed advanced studies at The Stanford University Business School on strategic planning.
Jim now heads JLJ Consulting and was recently spotlighted by The Pennsylvania State University Human Development and Family Studies as an accomplished alumnus.
He and his wife, Joy, currently reside in Waynesboro, Pennsylvania.
