i am an ex-Flight Surgeon and now a retired ID physician who has written about my exciting rescue experience in the USCG 1971-1973 in " Rescues from the Sky."The medical rescues are exciting and I promised you, you wouldn't go to sleep reading it and from the reviews, I don't think you did. I have been overwhelmed by the excellent reviews of the book and just released a second book titled "Contagion Chaser" which tells the story of an infectious disease detective.The investigative life of an infectious disease physican is like a police detective and success in the investigation may save a life from exposure to a highly contagious disease.

Now the last book in the trilogy has been written called “Microbial Mysteries: A Rocky Road” about a mid life crisis for the medical couple brought on by a move East from Arizona to become the Director of Infectious Disease at a large medical system. Unfortunately, the medical center did not authorize the additional physician he needed to put his department into a positive financial position. The medical system had floundered due to an ill advised merger leaving his plans to expand a financial orphan and forcing them to seek a new position in his home town in New Jersey. The drama deepens when yet another great opportunity for the couple is scuttled by an out of control physician associate who is an out of control bipolar anger monger who makes the couples’ life a misery. They are shocked when his patient, a Mafia a boss, takes the couple under his wing in order to keep his new physician in practice. The excitement of the struggle between the out of control doctor and Lee and Cara plus the Mafia boss is compelling to the reader. In addition, there are the mystery cases that Dr. Walters is able to solve using a medical detectives knowledge, experience and uncanny logic to save a life.

The trilogy describes a passionate love story between the young doctor and a nurse who meet over a confused agitated patient while pulling out his IV. Their attempts to stop him bring them into close contact and the physical connection is like an electrical charge to both of them. Their love story interlocks the chapters of the true stories an infectious disease physician's intellectual battle to save lives and yes, his failures , too. There is an exciting realism to this medical detective story that will have you turning the pages faster than you thought possible. I only hope you can go to sleep if you start reading it in the evening. I apologize if you miss a night's sleep during the reading of any of the trilogy stories. There are many characters in the books that you will enjoy meeting and some you won't. The complex stories have been stuck in my cortex for years and it has been cathartic to put them in black and white for others to read. I hope you enjoy reading them as much as I did writing them.
