George Stevens was born and raised in the West Country, UK. His education was gained in the same area before spending a year at an art college. He then decided to attend a teacher-training college in order to become a teacher of children at primary level (5-11years). During this time, he produced a number of plays for a variety of occasions and even wrote some of them himself. “The Pied Piper” is one example of this. He retired from teaching some years ago with the intention taking up writing more seriously.
George became a Christian in his teenage years but wasn't assured of salvation until about 24 years of age. That is to say, he then knew that he had been reconciled to God and that he had the assurance of heaven as his destiny. He has explored the scriptures ever since. Using his art training and teaching experience, he has produced a few plays and stories for children as well as books for adults - in order to aid their understanding of the scriptures.
Furthermore, late in his teaching career, he asked the Lord for help to write a hymn-a-day. God has been faithful to him in this task. Up to this point in time, he must have written more than 4000 hymns/poems. Some of them have been previously published in Hymn-a-Day books along with the scriptures that prompted them. He hopes these books will be revived over the next year or so. He is currently writing the eighteenth book.
