I learned at an early age the joy that comes with getting lost in the pages of a book. The lessons we learn and the messages we internalize shape who we become as adults.
It was not until after I had children that I discovered the awesome responsibility that comes with shaping little minds for a brighter future.
My first book, "When We Grow Up," began as a labor of love and a legacy for my daughters, LaShundria and Monique. I wanted to remind them to not only be kind and have empathy for others, but to live with character, conviction, and passion. I also wanted my girls to ground themselves in a greater purpose and to know the joys of living in service to others.
I published "When We Grow Up" with the hope that it teaches children that there are no 'one size fits all' dreams for the future, because everyone has their own unique set of values interests and talents.
Finally, I want for parents to recognize their power to influence and encourage their children to aspire to become the best versions of themselves.
