Matthew Fearing

Recently published again in Messages from the Hidden Lake, a southern Colorado literary magazine, my short stories and poems have propelled me into writing fiction. My main character is Buck Larson -- a retired soldier and former teacher who has a knack for investigation.

I am a high school teacher in Kansas City, but have been an educator in multiple schools in Kansas and Virginia. I'm retired military from a combination of active duty and National Guard service to include deployment in Afghanistan. I love combining my experiences to create stories and utilize my own experiences to help develop these fictional tales.

I love riding motorcycles. I started with a Suzuki GT-380 and have had Hondas, Harleys, and even a Ural. Biking is a passion.

I currently live in Eudora, KS just outside Lawrence and the University of Kansas, but I have lived all over. Born in Iowa, I grew up in Indiana and moved to North Carolina as my teen years turned to my 20s. The military had me living in Alabama, Virginia, California, Panama, Honduras, and Afghanistan. There were many more places I have traveled on my own and with the military. I like to think these experiences help me give some authenticity to my writing.

As a soldier, I was an MP and MP Investigator. I worked with US Customs and eventually moved over to Public Affairs. Married and divorced 3 times -- marriage doesn't seem to sit well with me -- I have two wonderful sons.
