Peter J Stavros

Peter J. Stavros is a writer and playwright in Louisville, Kentucky, and the author of the novel, The Thing About My Uncle (BHC Press). He is the recipient of the Etchings Press 2020 Book Prize for a Chapbook of Prose for Three in the Morning and You Don’t Smoke Anymore. Other works by him include the short story collections (Mostly) True Tales From Birchmont Village and All The Things She Says, and the novella, Tryouts.

A licensed attorney and former reporter for the Associated Press, Peter has published his writing in literary journals, magazines, newspapers and anthologies, including The Saturday Evening Post, The Boston Globe Magazine and Chicken Soup for the Soul. His plays have garnered Audience Choice accolades at various festivals across the country, but Peter is perhaps most proud that his play, "Out on a Limb," was performed as part of a drama class for homeschooled students living in Choma, Zambia--among other classrooms. 

Peter earned a BA in English from Duke University, where he received the prestigious Newman Ivey White Award for Fiction, and studied creative writing on a graduate level at Emerson College and Harvard University.
