I was born in the backwoods of Western Kentucky, somewhere close to where the Mississippi regularly floods the fields and small towns. My family moved and I was raised in Florida in a house where a giant citrus grove once stood. All up and down the street were rows of orange trees that had remained after the homes were built. The backyards on our side of the street had huge Grapefruit trees, one big enough to build a wooden tree fort. I was so fortunate to have grown up with a loving nuclear family in a hot, innocent, fishing-hole-infested place as a young boy.
After high school, I had friends who had gone away only to come back to tell fascinating stories of Naval and Coast Guard Academies. So, after a couple of years of disinterested college, I joined the Army. In the Army, it was the best of times and the worst. I wouldn't trade my time in it, but in the long run, it wasn't a life for me. My father would always tell me, "You'll never make any money working for somebody else." So I believed him. After taking some saved money from the learned Army electronics, defense plant, and Paging engineering jobs (Pagers!) I invested in -- selling mattresses. The mattress business was a good if modest income. And it was great to work for oneself. After a decade and not satisfied, I became a Financial Advisor, only to have started during 9/11. Having bad timing and the need to eat, I went into Landscape Design and installs with a relative. Went solo in Atlanta GA and switched to maintenance and have done that ever since.
I began to write a book with the idea of making a screenplay since the cinema world seemed to be all poor remakes of old movies or comic book-themed. I hoped to write an original story that would take a reader/watcher on a new ride. I love to learn so I try to add relevant real-life information into my stories. I've done a huge amount of study in male-female relationships and understand the root-level basis for romantic interactions. These studies have changed my life. I have often thought of how many relationships could be saved by knowing how to maintain ones' role, communicate properly and reduce anxiety.
If you read my book, let me know what you think. I'd love to hear from you or answer any questions. A screenplay is in the works, so hopefully, we'll see The Flight of The Magician on a screen soon.
