Michael Nirenberg

Dr. Michael Nirenberg is a forensic and clinical podiatrist. Dr. Nirenberg has used his knowledge of the foot, footwear and gait to help law enforcement apprehend criminals and in some cases, those persons falsely accused, defend themselves. Dr. Nirenberg is in private practice just outside of Chicago in Crown Point, Indiana.

Dr. Nirenberg was among the first persons to publish on forensic podiatry as a distinct discipline when he authored the paper Forensic Methods and the Podiatric Physician. It won the Distinguished Podiatric Writing Award.

Gait may be overlooked as evidence in crimes, but with the increasing use of cameras gait is beginning to gain recognition. His textbook, Forensic Gait Analysis: Principles and Practice, which he co-authored, provides a foundation of the methods of performing forensic gait analysis.
