Katherine Connelly

Katherine Connelly (b.1985) is a writer, historian, lecturer and activist. Most recently, she edited and introduced 'A Suffragette in America' (2019): Sylvia Pankhurst's hitherto unpublished writings discussing race, sex and class in North America, based on her transatlantic lecture tours. Her first book, a political biography of Sylvia Pankhurst, was published in 2013. As a historian of the suffragette movement, she has featured in Netflix's 'A Tale of Two Sisters' documentary series and Channel 4's 'Secrets of a Suffragette'; in 2014 she presented a four-part mini series on women's history in East London for BBC Radio 4. Connelly's writing broadly focusses on the history of radical social movements, the city, political thought and popular culture in Britain, France and the United States during the 'long nineteenth century'. She is currently writing on Karl Marx and Parisian popular culture.
