Ruth Holroyd

Ruth has been writing an award winning blog called whatallergy.com for over ten years now, ever since her first really bad anaphylactic reaction as an adult. She wanted to help others, to make sense of this frustrating, terrifying and life limiting condition and the blog is somewhere she can share what she’s learnt, lessons, tips and advice. She has had many very severe anaphylactic reactions resulting in admission to A&E and advocates speaking up, telling others you have allergies and not taking risks, especially when eating out!

She has spoken at numerous events, from lobbying parliament at the Houses of Parliament to interview on BBC Radio and Radio 5 Live. She also speaks at The Allergy Show, EEACI, the BSACI and corporate conferences to educate medical and industry professionals what it’s really like living with life threatening allergies.

She is a regular judge and tester for the FreeFrom Food Awards and Skin Care Awards.

She is now an advocate of selfcare, relaxation and mindfulness and practises yoga and meditation regularly as a way of living with extreme anxiety and panic attacks. She is also a member of a running club and runs the crazy out at least four times a week. She loves reading, writing, gardening, country walks and relaxing in her garden with a cup of tea and freefrom cake!

She works as a freelance marketeer and copywriter.
