Brahim Benyoucef

Brahim Benyoucef is a professor and consultant expert in urban planning and social sciences, Canada. He is the president of the Observatoire Espace et Société, Canada.

Doctor in urban planning and development (University of the Sorbonne Paris IV) and graduated in social sciences and Eastern civilizations (University of the Sorbonne-Nouvelle-Paris III), has more than 30 years of experience in the fields of education academic, scientific research and international expertise.

He practised as a professor at the following universities: Algiers’s university, USTHB university (Algiers), Polytechnic School of Architecture and Urbanism (Algiers), Saad Dahlab university (Blida, Algeria) and Montreal.

He is the author of several books and master of several projects in the fields of urban planning and social sciences. His areas of research interest are urban issues and social issues, as well as aspects of society and religion. In addition to the didactic books, L'analyse urbaine : éléments de méthodologie, (OPU 1995-2010); introduction à l'histoire de l'architecture islamique, (OPU 1995-2010); he has several books on M'zab and Ibadism, from a point of view of town planning and sociology: Le M'zab, les pratiques de l'espace, (Enal 1986); Le M'zab, espace et société, (IAD 1992); Le M'zab, parcours millénaire, (Alpha 2010); Le M'zab, regards d'urbanisme et de sociologie, (L'Observatoire Espace et Société, 2019).

He is responsible for several projects in the areas of urban and social development, including: Cities Development Strategy Project (CDS) (Republic of Niger / World Bank, 2004-2005); Regional Development Plan, oil Production Zone (Chad, CTNSC / World Bank, Chad, 2003-2004); new city of El-Atteuf Tilemsassine (Ghardaïa 1995); Algiers Metropolitan Management Project (ANAT 1996), etc.
