I'm Shirley Hudson of Hudson's Holidays Designs & I have been designing Craft & Quilt
patterns for over 20 years. I have always loved sewing & crafting, so when my daughter was born, I quit my postal job to be with her but I needed to have an income. I decided to submit my own designs for all the major Craft magazines out there. It was very thrilling to see projects in print. Currently I have been in over 90 magazines. Editors often requested me to design for them and to fit a theme. I then decided to make my own patterns and create my own line, Hudson's Holidays.
I currently have over 400 patterns for quilts, embroidery, wool projects, needlepunch, and projects to decorate the home for all the holidays throughout the year and everyday. My designs, generally, are easy and quick for the busy women of today. Our time is so limited today ... we need fast and satisfying projects. I like to design new concepts ...to make projects different.
I have been selling wholesale to quilt stores for years through distributors (Checker, Nancy’s notions, EE Scheck) and retail all over the World via the internet and online stores like Etsy, my own website, patternmart...etc. I also have had my designs in Keepsake Quilting Catalog.
I keep customers up to date with my colorful blog. I love to give freebies, design ideas, and share my personal stories. I connect with people using my website, Instagram, facebook, and a huge email list. I have been featured on blogs, I teach my designs and did a couple presentations at our WSQ quilt show. I also love selling at quilt shows and having a booth at International Quilt Market. I was a design team member of Deflecto, a craft solution company. Just recently I have been making repeating surface pattern designs for fabric and have designs on Spoonflower. Some fun facts: I’m a disabled Veteran, a painter/Artist, I love going Antiquing, and just learned crochet...it is addicting.
My daughter, Selina Hudson, is now a designer of wood blanks perfect for embroidery, has 4 distributors, and has designed for leisure arts. We collaborate all the time.
My book, Lovely little hand embroidery” published by C&T Publishing is out March 2020 and is on pre-sale from many distributors and Amazon. There are 30 projects in my book that feature easy embroidery mixed with a little patchwork! I’m so thrilled about it and can’t believe my dream is coming true.
