Mary C. Kern

Mary Kern is an award-winning, tenured professor and organizational psychologist at Baruch College – City University of New York whose research focuses on negotiation and decision making, group dynamics, and ethical leadership and behavior. She studies the complexities and conflicts that arise when people work together on a project or negotiate a deal, and how these conflicts can be managed, mediated, and resolved. As a mother of two teens these complexities certainly arise at home.

Mary has published more than 20 articles and book chapters on these topics in top managerial and academic publications, such as the Harvard Business Review and Psychological Science. Her work has appeared in Forbes, Vanity Fair, and The Stanford Social Innovation Review. Her research has received numerous awards including the Abraham J. Briloff Prize in Ethics. Mary’s first book, Negotiating at Home: Essential Steps for Reaching Agreement with Your Kids, co-authored with Terri Kurtzberg came out in June 2020 and has already received praise from Kirkus Reviews.
