I am a first time author of a poetry compilation called "Reflections of a Wandering Celt". In the Foreword I make a stout defense of Lyrical Poetry, which I write a lot, but I do also include quite a lot of Free Verse. I explain at the start of each poem why I wrote it and in the poems about Ireland and Africa I provide separate translations for any foreign words or phrases. Also, I have divided up the book into sections called Romance, Nature, Humour, Thoughts of Erin etc, for ease of reference.
I was born in Ireland, but I have lived all over the world. I currently live in Cape Town, South Africa, with my South African wife, Margaret, and I have children and grandchildren in Africa, UK , Australia and New Zealand, but travel extensively in Europe every year. I also manage most years to get to see my family in the Antipodes. However, like many Irish ex-patriates my heart will always be in Ireland. The book was facilitated by all the extra time afforded by the Covid 19 lockdown, resulting in me managing to get it published on Amazon.
