Hello. My name is K M Strange, and I’m an erotic author.
Before I wrote this, I actually googled what to write in an author bio. Don't look at me like that, I bet everyone does it…Right?
Anyway, one of the first things that was suggested was to mention your credentials for writing about your chosen topic.
Ahem. I would like to think I’m not, like, overqualified to write Erotica. I’m equally not underqualified—just so we’re clear. I can honestly say that before I started writing, I did a lot of research—years and years of it, in fact. Researching the craft, I mean, not the content, although I’ve researched some of that, too...
I’m getting off track.
I studied Media and Journalism at university. Though I didn’t pursue it as a career, it gave me a healthy fascination with the power of language and a respect for the art of writing.
I also think I add a gentle layer of humour to my writing, a talent I acquired by watching a lot of comedians (particularly Ricky Gervais, Noel Fielding or Bianca Del Rio) as well as comedy sitcoms like Fawlty Towers, Black Books and Father Ted. Most of these shows I watched with my parents as a child and they shaped my love of dry British humour.
My first story, Garden of Eden, started as a love-letter to my husband, Mr Strange. When my son had just been born we went through a phase of passing each other like ships in the night. Except we were handing over a baby as we passed. So, we started a shared notebook page where we would write to each other, describing an alternate reality where we would do unspeakable things if we had the time/energy. It was a way of keeping us connected during a period where our son (quite rightly) was the sole object of our attention.
After the new-born phase was over and I actually had the energy to see colours again, I decided to turn our saucy correspondence into a story.
As soon as it was published, I was hooked! I love creating characters and scenarios and seeing where they take me. I genuinely never know exactly what’s going to happen when I start a story (other than the obvious) and I feel like I get to enjoy the journey my characters take with them.
When I write, my main motivation is exploring human interactions; how our emotions affect our actions. I love delving in to the effect that eroticism and fetishes have on our psyche, and I’ve actually unearthed some interesting things about my own preferences along the way.
I hope you enjoy my stories, I’d love to hear your thoughts and feedback. In the meantime, thanks again for taking the time to read my work, it genuinely means a lot!
