Pat Baxter published a novel entitled Unmasking Henri, whose characters will have readers laughing and crying, as the uplifting story of love and compassion is revealed in a modern-day mystery.
Drawing inspiration from faith, family and nature, her thoughts about life and its meaning are captured in an entertaining, deeply touching work of nonfiction entitled Rooted in the Delta: A Memoir in Poems, Paintings & Prose.
Pat was raised in the mosquito-infested cotton fields of the Arkansas Delta. Even as a child, she showed a flair for the creative, making mud pies decorated with flowers. Though she has a deep connection to the past, her poignant writings show that her feet are firmly planted in the present and her eyes are focused on a bright tomorrow. She believes that the last part of one's life can be as exciting as the first part.
After teaching English and social studies in Missouri and Arkansas for 37 years, she moved to Del Webb, an active retirement community, where she refused to sit in a rocking chair but stepped outside of her comfort zone to become Ms. Tennessee Senior America 2012 and a top ten finalist in the Ms. Senior America 2013 pageant in Atlantic City. She is a prolific artist who enjoys creating in several mediums: acrylic, watercolor, pastel, charcoal, graphite, and mixed media. She also handcrafts artistic clay necklaces. For several years she sang in a trio and as a soloist. Currently, she sings blues, jazz, country, and rock 'n' roll.
Pat and her husband, Carter, live in Carthage, Missouri. They have 2 children and 8 grandchildren.
