Edward Underwood

After having completed an MA in Fine Art at Central St Martins, Edward was at first surprised to find himself illustrating sustainable stationery and homewares for Lisa Jones Studio, and then delighted as his favourite publishers began to notice his creations.

Initially informed by the limitations of silkscreen printing and diminutive scale, Edward’s characters were often bold and simple, their emotions not always obvious. The more nuanced book form has enabled him to draw on influences from postmodern textiles, cubist perspective and Indian painting.

Born and raised in London, he now works from the home he shares with his family (and other animals) in a repurposed windmill on the edge of the South Downs.
