The messenger is of no consequence, only the message. Write when you are haunted, when you are sick with a story demanding to be told. Write when the message threatens to burst forth from your chest and will not allow you to ignore it any longer. Write from your defeat, your tragedy, your pain; these all have tremendous value. Write with your joy and love, for they too have value. Anyone who tells you writing is fun and easy is either a charlatan or a fool. Writing bears most value when necessary, not easy.
