Iddah Otieno

Dr. Iddah Otieno was born and raised in the East African country of Kenya. She is a Professor of English and African Studies at Bluegrass Community and Technical College in Lexington, Kentucky. She is the founding Director of the Kenya Exchange Program in the Commonwealth of Kentucky. She is also the Founder and President of the Ephraim Ochieng Otieno, MD Science Foundation (EOOSF) created in memory of her beloved firstborn son Ephraim. Her research focuses on Comparative International Education, Literatures of Africa, African Immigrant Experiences in the United States, and Higher Education in Africa and the United States. Iddah is also a youth mentor and coach to the United Nations Association of the United States BCTC Chapter and the Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI), East Africa, dedicated to empowering the next generation of leaders. Iddah enjoys exposing her students, friends, and colleagues to other cultures of the world through educational tours and travel.
