Elwood L Schmidt (1931-present) completed pre-med studies at Texas A&M and received his MD from U of Texas Medical Branch, Galveston in 1956. The book provides vignettes from pre-med days, medical school efforts, and the trials of internship. There are stories from service to the Hopi and Navajo in Arizona, the Paiute and Shoshone in Nevada and private practice in Slaton, TX, Jal, NM, Yuma,AZ, and Nevada. Many of the stories are amusing, some sad, some edifying, but all are short and can be read in succession or ala carte. The reader is invited to share windows into medical practice from the 1950's to the present.
