J.D. Monk

J.D. Monk is the author of the beloved children's book SLIMY SLICK: The Nighttime Adventures of a Banana Slug. The book has earned bestseller status in several categories and received a Reader's Favourite award from Goodreads.

Under the pen name Maren Hill, J.D. wrote her women’s fiction trilogy The Verity Child Series plus a short romantic comedy, Sealed With a Kiss, based on her travels to Portugal.

J.D. has since written the Sunrise Island series, a women's fiction collection set on a picturesque island in British Columbia. The series blends small-town charm with rich, relatable characters, making it a favourite among readers who enjoy heartfelt, character-driven stories.

A lifelong language lover, J.D. was inspired by her father, who often consulted their six-inch-thick Webster's dictionary. This early exposure to words ignited her passion for finding the perfect expression and sparked a lifelong love of writing.

In addition to her novels, J.D. has published a craft book, MAKE A SPECTACULAR SEASHELL LAMP, which reflects her creativity, love for nature, and desire to teach others.
