Joe Byers is a teacher and school administrator by training, a career preparation that readily supports outdoor communication. He began writing professionally more than 40 years ago and has published thousands of article, blogs, and photographs of various hunting genre. He lives in Hagerstown Maryland with his lovely wife Vel. In addition to freelance writing, Byers was Hunting Editor for Heartland USA Magazine for 10 years where he won numerous national awards. Currently he is Executive Director of the Mason-Dixon Outdoor Writers Association, a charter member of POMA, and the author of “The Ultimate Guide to Crossbow Hunting” a work of 360 pages with more than 100 photographs and illustrative drawings. He has embraced crossbow hunting over the past decade and blends technical data with practical hunting situations that can dramatically increase results.
