Art historian Jennifer Carman has devoted two decades to researching and documenting historic and contemporary artists who worked in Arkansas and other parts of the south. As an accredited fine art appraiser and advisor, she consults and writes on diverse topics in the fields of fine and decorative arts and material culture.
She is currently researching art schools that operated in the Ozark Mountains, particularly those steered by Louis and Elsie Freund and Olin and Kathryne Hail Travis. When she can find the time, she also squeezes in time for a project exploring the midcentury aesthetic of arts, crafts, and architecture in Arkansas. If you have any objects or stories that lend insight to any of these topics, please contact her through her website.
