Trevor Rollings

I read English at Cambridge, then taught English in three countries, most of the time as Head of Department.

In my teaching of literature, my mind always drifted towards psychology, and in my teaching of language, towards neuroscience. In the middle sat philosophy.

In all my thinking and engaging with young people's interests, I found myself constantly trying to reconcile the mind and the brain, the world of symbol and the world of science.

When I retired I decided to put pen to paper. After a great deal of reading in the relevant fields, I started to produce a series of books which I have called 'Empires of the Mind'.

Those available on KDP so far are:

We Are More Than Our Brains - Putting our minds to neuroscience.

No Man Is An Island - How pain and suffering bind us to each other

The Mosaic of the Mind - Where does our mind go in sleep, dreams and hypnosis?

At the moment I am working on:

In Our Right Mind - Sex, drugs and a question of control

This will be followed by:

The Gremlins of the Mind - Why we struggle to think straight

In Several Minds - Schizophrenia, autism and other states of mind
