Neusa Catoja

Neusa’s strongest characteristics are that of a risk taker. A dreamer, one who speaks and follows through with action ‘Less thinking more doing’ has always been Her Motto. This Strength, stubbornness and independence may not always feel good to those She Loves, as they often felt they had no place in Her life. She always knew from an early age to give to others.

Many failed, and still fail, to understand Her way of thinking; often pulling Her back to their own reality. Trapped in society’s expectations of what a Mother should be. Seeing Her own Mother raise Her and Her three siblings alone gave Her the passion to repeat the same Strengths Her Queen Mother inherited from Her Grandmother and Her Ancestors.

Neusa Catoja, Born in Mozambique, Nampula on the 24th March 1979, moved to Portugal at the age of 3 with Her older Brother and single Mother. She watched Her own Mother struggle and work hard, just to provide for them all.

She faced many challenges as a child of a single parent: having little memories of Her childhood apart from the responsibilities of raising Her Younger Brother as Her Mother continued to work endlessly.

Moving to England at the age of 10, Neusa learned to speak English yet maintained Her own first language, Her African heritage; and still adapted to the English ways: cold weather and at times, friends who had no family values or respect for their parents.

At the age of 18 She left home to finally begin Her own journey of independence. Growing up in an African household, where girls cannot do what boys can, Her Mother did the best She could. However She craved Freedom and to just to be a normal teenager: to party hard, work hard and live Her own life without rules. Yes Neusa does not do rules of any kind.

Following a career as a 9-5 Personal Assistant, She was bored of the endless daily repetitive tasks that the corporate world restricted Her with.

She loved being a Mother, spending the majority of Her parenthood as a single Mother, as She craved Freedom and self-expression. At times She felt restricted in relationships; not because of Her partners, but because She had a desire to be Free. Feeling there was more to life than what was apparent.

The desire to be “Great” always lived within Her. She broke free as a fully qualified Personal Trainer, Entrepreneur, Mumpreneur. Friends often forgot She had a child. Not because She wasn’t present in Her daughter’s life but because having a child never restricted Her; It motivated Her to Love more, Do more and still enjoy life as a young mum.

Life was always on Her terms until one day Her risk taking began to take its toll.

Being Her own “EVERYTHING” became Her weakness, yet Her Greatest Strength. A Journey of Self Discovery led Her down a dark path of Body Dysmorphia; Depression and Social Anxiety. She experienced Emotional Eating; Binge Eating Disorder; Orthorexia; Obsession with Body Perfection; Self-harm; and suicidal thoughts; which led to a path of Discovery of “SELF”, igniting the fire within.

This path became Her awakening. Her obsession and addiction to the internet: searching for a solution to heal Her anxious thoughts, physical and self-diagnosed medical issues holistically led Her to become Her own Coach.

Her connection to Her Higher Power, the Goddess within Her led Her towards a relationship with God, Her Creator. Through this Spiritual connection Free2Embrace Me was born.
