Terry D. Heflin

Terry D. Heflin retired from a 35-year career as a full-time English professor teaching at the community college level in 2018. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism and Communications from the University of Florida, a Master’s degree in Education (English) from Nova Southeastern University, and an Education Specialist (Professional Doctorate) degree in Literature Based Curriculum Design from Stetson University. Yet she hasn’t left the classroom completely behind as she continues to hold the position of adjunct English professor at Dallas College on the Richland campus.

Terry grew up in Florida, but her family roots were in Texas, so after years of driving back and forth on I-10, she and her family made the move home in 2004. Terry’s background in American literature and history is the framework for her stories and is found in her settings, in her authentic events, and in her characters.

Terry is an administrator for the Western Channel and is involved in the Texas Trail of Fame, promoting the preservation of western heritage through the arts.

Since retirement, writing has become a challenging and rewarding second career – a dream fulfilled.

One of Terry’s favorite past times is going down the rabbit hole of research for all of her novels:

“Really well-written tale of Civil War espionage, with a juicy little romance woven in as well. You will feel smarter having read this wonderfully intelligent novel that does not miss on any details about the North versus South conflict.” – Ted Huntington, May 13, 2021

Terry lives by Eagle Mountain Lake northwest of Fort Worth.
