Kent Roberts

Kent Roberts is an author, playwright, and screenwriter who has gone viral as a contributor to *The Onion* and has been published by *The New York Times*. His "selflication" *Kent* scored contributions from various staffers at *The Onion*, including several from rising editor-in-chief Carol Kolb (*Community*/*Brooklyn Nine-Nine*) and staff writer Chris Karwowski (*The Novelizers with Andy Richter*). A mail subscription was sold to a stranger on an East Village dance floor by John Krasinski (*The Office*/*A Quiet Place*/*Jack Ryan*). Kent chief-edited the humor magazine at Brown University, where he also studied acting/staging (two solo shows directed by *The Boys* showrunner / *Vought Rising* creator Paul Grellong) and film/video production (recruited by *The Bourne Identity*/*The Bourne Supremacy*/*The Bourne Ultimatum* director Doug Lyman's dot-com video startup Nibblebox). Roberts' 2005 book *A Portrait of Yo Mama as a Young Man* (Random House / Crown / Three Rivers Press) was called "edgy and hilarious" by *People* and "funny!" by David Cross. A humorous recovery memoir, sarcastic novel, and tragicomic play are all in the works (soon before passing away, *Catch 22* author Joseph Heller called Kent's writing "witty [and] promising").
