Grammar and Writing:

I confess that I'm a grammar nerd. I enjoy writing, improving my writing skills, and helping others improve their writing skills--check out my YouTube videos. The only problem is people expect my writing to be perfect. That's why we have editors and proofreaders, right?

Court Reporting:

I took up court reporting in 2009 during the Great Recession as a potential career change, and I taught myself stenography and Gregg shorthand in the evenings. Surviving the layoffs, I am currently a stenography and shorthand hobbyist.

I use an Elan Cybra with Plover for stenography. I have acquired a library of court reporting references and theory books, and I own about a half dozen antique steno machines. While I originally studied Gregg Simplified, I switched to Diamond Jubilee.
