Bob Terwilliger

The Reverend Dr. Robert H. Terwilliger grew up in Wallkill, New York, a small village in the mid-Hudson Valley, some 70 miles north of New York City. He attended Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and graduated from Hope College (B.A.), Western Theological Seminary (M. Div.), and International Seminary (Ph.D.)

Pastor Bob, as he is affectionately called, is ordained in the Reformed Church in America, the oldest Protestant denomination in the U.S. with a continuous ministry. He has served as the senior minister in Bethel Reformed in Harvey, Illinois, Hope Reformed in Kalamazoo, Michigan, and, for the last fifteen years, Bethany Reformed in Kalamazoo. He retired in 2013.

Bob also worked in the marketing department at the Kellogg Company in Battle Creek, Michigan, and as the marketing director for CRC Publications, the publishing ministry of the Christian Reformed Church in North America. From 1993 to 1998, he was a Mission Supervisor for the Reformed Church in America, overseeing mission work in Eastern Europe and Russia and among Native Americans in the U.S.

Since retiring, Bob and his wife, Patricia, have become involved at the Kalamazoo Civic Theatre, the third largest community theatre in the country. They have appeared in several plays and musicals, and Pat has volunteered in the costume shop. Pastor Bob also serves as a retiree chaplain for the denomination, caring for approximately 70 retired ministers, missionaries, and spouses in western Michigan.

Bob and Pat have a son and a daughter, and six grandchildren, all of whom live in Michigan. Another son, born with spina bifida, passed away in 2013. They live in Kalamazoo, Michigan.
