L. Elvira McKay - My new book “My Dream of the Good Shepherd’, and Dwayne the Cow - The Cow that didn’t know how… (2019) were both created years ago. I was given a class assignment in high school to write two books. Years later, I decided to revamp the content, add new illustrations and publish the books. It has been a memorable journey and each book required a tremendous amount of research and perseverance. Every step was well worth the final result. I can honestly say my next book will present challenges as well. I look forward to the opportunity.

My Dream of the Good Shepherd explores the dream of a young boy named Jonah. He joyously shares his dream which begins with a bee and a flea drinking tea, a sly fly and his new friend named Ben. As the dream continues, he is approached by the Good Shepherd who leads him through Psalm 23. It’s a captivating journey. Jonah’s life is forever changed due to his adventure with the Good Shepherd.

In creating the character Dwayne the Cow, I always felt a deep connection with him. Dwayne the Cow is kind and generous. During his adventure on the farm, he turns to God daily and prays. He eventually finds success by achieving his heartfelt desire thanks to his faith in God.

Writing Christian children’s books means a lot to me. As a child I truly enjoyed the stories of the Bible. I think it’s exciting for kids to start learning about God’s love for them as young as possible. Ideally this learning will result in a strong foundation which will produce a lifelong relationship with God.
