Jamie Gandy

Jamie Gandy was born in Austin, Texas, as the youngest of a large blended family.

As a three-year-old girl, Jamie stumbled across and befriended a black gutter cat. This cat, Precious, would ultimately set Jamie's life into motion and would eventually lead her to become an Author.

Growing up, Jamie HATED reading with a passion. The more her parents tried to push her to read, the more she loathed it. She would avoid reading anything unless absolutely necessary. Nothing about the books she had to read was fun, and what kid wants to do something that isn't entertaining to them? If there was a time in her life that she ever actually rebelled against her parents, it was strictly due to her fighting against the pressure from them to teach her to read. (Sounds really lame, I know.)

At the age of thirteen, Jamie's childhood best friend introduced her to a series of books that changed her life forever. 'Warriors' by Erin Hunter. These books about cats sparked a love of reading in Jamie that opened up new worlds (literally) to her. The moment she started reading 'Into the Wild,' she was hooked and didn't come up for air until she was all caught up in the series. After that, reading became second nature to Jamie. She devoured every book that piqued her interest. Including Narnia, The Lord of the Rings, as well as the required high school readings. (To this day, she still hates Romeo and Juliet) and many more!

Warriors set Jamie onto the path of reading; however, it wouldn't be until she stumbled across the Christian fiction Author, Karen Kingsbury, that she found the desire to become a Christian Author. Due to her overactive imagination and a mother who had her own online Children's Magazine, Jamie was often asked to help her mother come up with stories for her magazine.

At the age of sixteen, after reading almost all of Kingsbury's books, she knew she wanted to write novels that would touch lives in meaningful ways.

In the summer of 2007, after a trip to Colorado with her best friend, the ideas for Jamie's first book began to swarm. However, it wouldn't be until she turned nineteen that she would finally put her fingers to a keyboard to write this novel.

In October of 2009, Jamie learned about an annual writing challenge that takes part every November called National Novel Writing Month. With her 'ideas' of a story still lingering in the chambers of her mind, she chose to accept the challenge of writing a 50,000-word novel in a single month.

That was the first year she took part and conquered NaNoWriMo, and every year since she has kept the tradition going. Last November, 2024, she won the thirteenth year.

Jamie's genre of writing has grown throughout the years. Her first four novels are Christian romance fiction, while her last five have been Christian Fantasy fiction. With God as the Author, and her as the Ghost Writer, she strives to tell the stories that she is guided by her Heavenly Father to share. Be there, Firefighters, Football players, Police Officers, Ranchers, Princes, Princesses, Knights, Unicorns, or Dragons, the story always points back to Him.
