Fehrin Brindley

Fehrin Mae Brindley is the oldest of the Ward girls. She is married to a farmer and lives on a ranch near New Underwood, SD. She has always had a love for reading and a true talent with words. Fehrin began her writing career in second grade when she wrote her first book series "Sunset: the Racing Filly." Of course, they were only published to the classroom libraries, but so began her love for creating stories. Her fourth grade teacher encouraged Fehrin, telling her she was sure she would be a big-time writer someday and in 7th grade she won an essay contest. In high school, all Fehrin's writing assignments turned into mini novellas and a few were even passed around in the hallway. Her friends enjoyed her writing style and ability to keep the reader wanting more. Fehrin always promised herself that if she ever came up with a good idea for a book, she would write it. With Mataya's help, they have done just that!

Fehrin went to college at Black Hills State University where she majored in Science Education and was on the Yellow Jacket Volleyball Team. She currently is a high school Biology and Chemistry teacher and volleyball coach. She also recently got accepted to pursue her Master's Degree in Chemistry starting in the summer of 2020.

Fehrin used to show horses in her younger days, going to the State Horse Show in a wide-range of events from showmanship, jumping, reining, equitation, and the speed events. Her eighth grade year she transitioned to spending most of her time to rodeo and was also a South Dakota High School Rodeo Association State Short-Go qualifier in a variety of events including cutting, barrels, and goat tying multiple times. There isn't much that can be done on a horse that Fehrin hasn't done and there is nothing she wouldn't try (she's even done Polo). Currently, Fehrin rides her horses Beast and Spirit the most among others for her parents and is training her two-year old named Flicka. Her mares Tilly, Chic, and Tolo raise beautiful babies for her family back at VLW Ranch.
